On the achievable rate of bandlimited continuous-time AWGN channels with 1-bit output quantization

Abstract We consider a real continuous-time bandlimited additive white Gaussian noise channel with 1-bit output quantization. On such the information is carried by temporal distances of zero-crossings transmit signal. derive an approximate lower bound on capacity lower-bounding mutual rate for input signals exponentially distributed zero-crossing distances, sine-shaped transition waveform, and average power constraint. The focus behavior in mid-to-high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime above 10 dB. For hard channels, saturates SNR growing to infinity. given loss respect unquantized solely depends bandwidth parameter exponential distribution. complement those findings upper specific signaling scheme. show that both bounds are close domain approximately 10–20
